During an outbreak, it can be hard to urinate and around the genital area can be tender and sore. Some people have flu-like symptoms that include fever, swollen lymph nodes, headache and muscle aches.
Herpes genital is a sexually transmitted disease that is more common than most people realize. It’s caused by the herpes simplex virus and it’s easily spread from one person to another through skin-to-skin contact. The virus can enter through small breaks in the skin or through the mucous membranes. This is why it can spread to the hands and other parts of the body as well as the genital area.
Sores will appear around the genital area, inner thighs, anal and surrounding areas. These sores turn into blisters that are very painful and itchy. After a few days, the blisters will begin to dry up and heal over and eventually go away. Unfortunately, they don’t go away for good, the virus simple lies dormant in the roots of the nerves until the next outbreak.
Some of the factors that can trigger an outbreak include stress, weak immune system, illnesses, fatigue and menstruation. HSV type 2 is the virus responsible for genital herpes. HSV type 1 is normally the type of herpes that cause cold sores but this virus can be spread to the genital area during oral sex and cause genital herpes.
Herpes genital not only affects the body but it can be embarrassing and cause emotional distress. Still, through treatment and the proper steps you can help prevent the spread of this virus and live a fairly normal life. It can even be spread when there is no outbreak present so, it’s vital than an infected person take precaution to not spread this virus to others.
